Small update and ref images
Slowly but surely. You guys may be interested in the reference images I found. They are of Hakka dwellings and perhaps the most interesting architectural typology to ever come out of China. I'm sure some of you know the Hakka as a nomadic Han peoples that have settled in modern day Fujian and Guangdong. Originally from the north these people started building these type of communal dwellings over a thousand years ago though most surviving examples are recent Ming dynasty. Of course they were originally built for defensive purposes but today they are regarded as architectural wonders.

Jeez, I just noticed that blogspot shrinks the original image size and gives it really shitty compression.
They resmble malls.
try using imagebucket to host the images. register, and upload to your account and ref it from there.
But I like that ref you pulled up.
It reminds me of Pig Style Alley from Kungfu Hustle.. but a bit older in look. and more poor.
If you do add more signs in the area... maybe a mix of really shanty (old signs, non lite), and brocken lite signs... (bulbs burnt)
oh man...
THat Hakka dwelling is so cool. It it very very interesting...
