been a while
sorry.. been a lazy ass and not scanning.
First pic is more scribbles and ideas. I'm thinking there was a effort to gather a army sent to climb the demon stalk.. but they were attacked before they even made it to the top (or maybe bottom???).
I did one enviro study as well.
One of the guys has calligraphy tattooed onto him (instead of paper talismans)

And now for something slightly different I thought I'd try messing around with a different style
with the similar toppic.

Vince, I like the guy with paper talismans and that underground entrance under the tree, nice ideas. I too had the idea of an army (see my traditional armor guys WIP). It would add an epic element to it. Can't wait to see more, it's certainly inspired me.
Another thought occured to me, the tassles dangling off the talisman dudes hat. If they were blades hanging off instead, he'd only have to flick his head to turn that hat into a deadly circular saw. Kinda reminds me of that old Shaw Brothers classic, the Flying Guilotine which happens to be somewhat based on actual chinese history.
The army is a minor pt to the story. I'm thinking it may over decades or centuries the stalk has been growing. And different armys and generations will try. And Jacqueline's family has lived not too far from it. I'm thinking the land would be very poor (land not really liveable) But the people who live close to the stalk scavange off the bodies. Collect Tallismans, and armour and sell back to new soldiers etc...
Ahhh yes.. One armed Swordsman vs the Flying Guilotine... hahaha cheesey but classic.
Its a interesting idea. I'll have to play around with it. But I really want to keep the emphasis on the tallisman.. and hopefully on the mask.
