Ok, just some more reference. Mont St. Michel, off the coast of Normandy. Often mentioned in Architecture school and no doubt the inspiration for many a fantasy author. When the tide is out it sits out there in the tidal flats surrounded by nothing for miles. At the bottom is Fort Broyard, a prison.

Yes, sort of. I'm thinking island or something that might connected to the mainland. Haven't really thought things through.

Pretty interesting structure...
I've seen the pics of the building before and I thought how that was every built!

That building even can float in the middle of sky, why not.
